how to block/escape pop ups on ipad

was trying to read an article on my ipad via the browser and kept getting a pop up when i tried going to the next page, it was some " you have won blah blah blah"

problem is i couldnt get the pop up off the screen, there was no X and if i clicked on the page itself the pop up remained.

How do you guys get back to the webpage when a pop up appears ?

Don't have an iPad but Maxthon Browser has built in Adblock and it's available on all platforms. I'm currently using it on Android and it works better than Firefox with Adblock.

You've got Block Popups enabled in the system prefs?

Doesn't that only block new windows pop-Ups?
My solution was cydia+Adblock, but the app solution should work as well.

try mercury browser as an alternative. it is in the app store.
