how to catch/detect cod4 hackers/cheaters

well, how does one?

i often watch replays when i die and just look in awe as i see the guy turn 100 degrees and stop dead still on my head and shoots me once. it will just be interesting to know who actually has the skill/luck and who is cheating.

and this is detecting them on servers i do not host fyi, like the SGS and iGame servers

I doubt you can catch them, probably just have to rely on Punkbuster (I thihnk cod4 uses that?) and the mods.

Any program you run client side (your side) could be picked up by the server as a hack, so if there was I wouldn't use it.

Hacks will always be found out, but they'll modify them to go unrecognised again, never ending circle. IMO the only people who could detect them are the mods/server admins.

If you suspect someone you could spectate them, but there are definately people who get accused of hacks just because they are good and know the levels etc.

Get some proof somehow, e.g. record a demo if you can. Take it up with an admin.
If conclusive, the perpetrator will get a permanent ban.

If this happened on SGS...sigh..no more admins...try to get hold of WildCat via the SGS forums.

The igame mods reckon that as much as 25% of players on their COD4 servers are caught for hacks, they are out there.

its really sad to see people hack . i see no fun or purpose in it . maybe just how daft of a person you are as a hacker really . i bet you if we played againts them and they didnt hack , they would have shells or rockets in theyre faces permanently. they wouldnt know where to hide . because REAL players know the game.


i agree with mikey, that sometimes when you play on sgs, a huge amount of wtf or no way dude will be said. sometimes i will struggle myself blue with a shotgun and othertimes its heaven. then again most of the people playing when i play dont hack, they are just good. but these low level guys with arb names do make me suspicious.

ya i downloaded "x-ray anti cheat" and got kicked by punk buster after a while. it's useless though, coz all it does is take screenshots and looks for suspicious stuff, but i don't get to see those screenies coz it just uploads them to the site. even there i cant see them.

if u think about it, it wud be fun to use hacks once or twice jsut to piss ppl off, but it stops then . some of my friends use their hacks at LANs for fun with a cod4 crack and play with an original version online.

just wish there were a way to catch those f***ers
