How to check warranty?

Is there a way to check the warranty of a Macbook online? I just need to know when the warranty expires.

I've tried https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do but it doesn't help at all.

All I get out of that one is "Please validate your product's purchase date."

Only way I know is through Apple's GSX portal. Only certified Apple techs can query your serial and find out the estimated date of purchase and activation date and that kind of stuff.
