Hi,

Does anyone know how to disable this annoying feature of Windows 7? When I go ALT + TAB, there's a desktop preview in the list. What the hell this is for, I don't know, but it's suer annoying and I don't want it there.

Does anyone know how to disable it?

The Aero view has been since Vista. Do you mean you want to switch to classic view? This desktop preview is to switch to the desktop, similar to Window Button+D...

Its like the "show desktop" button on the quick launch toolbar.

I actually find it handy to be able to tab to the desktop, I store temporary files there when I am working on them.

anyways, I'm sure if you really want you can find a registry hack to take it out.

I skipped passed Vista :) And I don't want to switch to classic view, a lot a lof the other features are very cool, but this one is plain annoying. Disabling Aero doesn't take it away either, so I don't think it's part of Aero

It's there so that you can show the desktop, i.e. minimising all open windows. A really useful feature. If you don't like don't use it.

The only way I know is the registry hack that reverts it to a Windows XP style icon alt-tab list.

Since you don't seem to find it useful I think it's automatic that we assume you don't know what it is used for.

Yeah, you aren't very clued up. Flip 3D is something completely different, which you get by going win-Tab. OP is talking about alt-tab. When you alt-tab in Win 7 you get a list of your programs, in aero preview format, not Flip 3D, and this contains a 'desktop' item. The OP wants to know if there is a way to remove this item from the alt tab list. It is really very simple. There is no need for this item, since win+D gets you to desktop and so does the 'show desktop' button in the bottom right.

Finally! Someone who actually read the full post :) :) :)

Could you please share the registry hack with me?

No, I just realised I don't care because it really isn't bothersome.
