Simple - upgrade to the 256k package! Seriously - I just upgraded from the 128kbs package to the 256kbs package and now I get on average about 128kbs on browsing and downloads, albeit somewhat spiky - fluctuates between about 80kbps and 160kbps. I'd say that the speed I'm getting on the 256k package is about what I had originally expected to get on the 128k package - if I was still on the 128k package I'd be a very satisfied 128k client!!

They should, to be honest, advertise the 128k as 64k and the 256k as 128k, then nobody would complain as that's more or less how it seems to effectively work for me.

I guess you'd have to upgrade to 512k to get more or less 256k, right???

Although more expensive. Even on a slow MW128 it's cheaper than dialup.

Only if you were on 24/7. When I still had my 128k ISDN and Callmore came to pretty much the same as what I am now paying. The only thing MyWireless gives me is 20-odd/7-ish rather than only surfing during CallMore time. Oh, btw, I am on 256k package - and it is slower than the ISDN 128k connection (I have daily figures / speed stats).

I should have clarified it a bit.
My dialup ran both in Callmore and in peak time. It's a business tool not an after hours jol.
I can calculate the time I spent online and it wouldn't even hit 12hrs out of 24 /day and the phone bill was over R1700/month.

Being connected 24ish/7-ish is worth more to me than the speed as such. Although email taking more than an hour to reach it's destination ... that's a major pain.

ISDN and Wireless cannot be compared. The one is technology from a few years back and Wireless is new.

I accidently left my ISDN dialup on before I left for work (only discovered it when I got back late that afternoon). That single day's slip-up (about 9 hours connected) cost me R200. Dial up is not an option for connecting during "call less" time.

Ditto, also business tool. My phone bill used to always be over R1000/month. Even though MW is slow, and even with relatively frequent disconnects at the moment, it's still actually worth it to me at R650 and always-on. Telkom is raping us so badly, they are crippling our entire economy with their monopoly pricing. The previous company I worked for (small IT company of under 20 people) had a monthly phone bill of between R5000 and R10000. A friend of mine used to work in a relatively small branch of Nedbank, and their telephone account was over R50,000 per month. We ALL pay for it. Every business must have and use a telephone, and every business must cover that cost by passing it on to their customers in some way. Every single business in South Africa is impaired by Telkom's costs, it's not just high phone bills that we pay, it's higher prices for every single thing we buy every single day. And that's thanks to Telkom (or rather, to government, who are either unable or unwilling to introduce competition into the market).

Technology wise no, unfortunately speedwise even our esteemed Winston compares the two (128k = 56k analogue, 256k = ISDN) - sad really.
