Got moered with a R2000 duties invoice today. Paid and got approval of receipt. Release in process.
Yarre that is ridiculous. Did you provide them the invoice GB generated/sent to you? Ie. Full purchase amount.

Normally the they declare a lower amount on the label which is attached on the parcel. Aramex use that unless you pre clear.

What I think is that these phones are drop shipped to us, and the actual seller declares it. Not GB. I stand to be corrected.

My phone shipped together with yours however, mine is still under customs processing. They only contacted me for importers code and I'm waiting for my invoice.

Will provide feedback.

Most cases there are no customs with Buffalo
I read some people have had to pay customs even with Buffalo.

Also it was lower than $50 if that makes a difference.

The guy who delivered came in a white van, not like the usual delivery vehicle.

Hmmm, with the import duties is it still cost effective to import?
I'm looking at two Redmi 6 @ R2100 vs R3000 from miphones.co.za
But if I'm not saving at least R500 per phone it's not worth the risk.

It seems that the cheaper phones were cheaper locally compared to imported. The more expensive phones are often cheaper to import.

For example, we got my son's Xiaomi S2 for R2500 on a daily special at take a lot. Import would have cost more than that, of all costs are included.

My Mi Max 3 was imported, including transport and taxes, more that R2000 cheaper than any local offer i could find.

Good price, was it a special they were running?
11.11 special. I had a 9% off coupon which I used on top of that also.

It's important so sub to their newsletter. I found that email only deals are more often cheaper than specials that occur on their site.

NOTE to others:

If you're bringing in a phone, just please do not choose priority shipping (Aramex). Use DHL instead. You'll never go wrong.

Why? DHL is quicker but more costly. What were your customs charges like?
