What hassle? My Samsung is 7 years old and still going strong. My Sony is 15 years old and chugging along as well. If I want to upgrade I just get a licence from family. Might not even need to with the price of gaming monitors getting cheaper YoY. No hassle whatsoever.

LOL, I choose to buy a tv license because if I see a tv on great special any time of the year that I know will last 5min before it is sold out, then I can buy it. No worries, 200 bucks is not worth the hassle.

Many people here have a problem with giving the ANC any money aside from the money they take from them by force (income tax), and for good reason. Would you give Joe Stalin a cent, or maybe even Hitler one buck, if he was in charge of your country?

I have. Purchased two new TV's in the last three months and wasn't asked about my TV licence. I actually have a TV license (one of few I know) but this very same outlet wouldn't let me take home a TV just a few years ago!

Do I think my tv license money is wasted? Yes.
I also don't agree with tax on booze, tobacco or sugar. Thats not going to stop me buying any of them. It's not worth it.
Same with the tv license. Not worth the effort for that little money.
So have you stopped drinking, smoking and using sugar, or are you also paying for the big year end parties?

This is like people boycotting Spur/Dischem, I bet you 90% of the other shops they buy from have the same policies, it just did not become public.

And guess what, some patience over the years and it worked. Sabc gave up.
