Hi Guys,

So my laptop was working fine until the Creators Update 1709 installed. I cannot log in without my laptop crashing. I have tried going into safe mode, using system restore - all of these result in the blue screen of death. My only option is to reinstall Windows 10.

I created a bootable USB drive using Rufus. To boot into the USB drive, I had to disable secure boot. The problem now is my laptop getting stuck on the "Getting Ready" screen. Also weird that the ASUS logo still shows up despite me installing new Windows. I have the ASUS FX553VD notebook.

If anyone knows what else I should try, please let me know.

Have you tested the HDD for faults?

And on that restart is the usb device still plugged in?

Try using an external dvd drive and download the image, did a laptop the other day and it worked fine, also tried to load remix os from thumb drive and had the same problem.

You created USB stick using MBR method for compatibility, but your laptop is capable of booting UEFI. I guess it tries to boot MBR and get stuck. Also if you use combo 32/64 ISO, it may try to boot wrong code, incompatible with currently installed version on the hard drive.

Some suggestions:

1. Delete all partitions on the hard drive, but be warned about presence of recovery partition.

2. Fiddle little bit with UEFI boot options, disable compatibility boot to force booting UEFI. In this setup Secure Boot can be enabled.

3. Alternative to #2 - force MBR booting, but you need properly prepared USB stick with single 64 or 32-bit ISO image (not a combo).

4. Alternative to all above: Boot from recovery partition and restore original OS installation. Then update by mounting ISO and run setup program (not Windows update)

5. Alternative to all above by Microsoft: Return laptop to Incredible Connection.

#4 and #5 had been already advised in other thread:
