Eskom provided the following tips to save up to 10% on electricity bills.
IOW - Please save 10% this year so we can demand a 20% raise in prices next year…

I'd rather use all I want now while I can still afford to.

I wonder how much could be saved by making use of daylight savings time.

Nothing at all. In fact, I think the statistics show that people actually consume 1% more electricity due to DST.

I recently lowered the AMP on my house to 20.

I get 100.40 units / R100.

I used to get 74 units / R100 when my house was on 40 amp.

For some reason I feel that the units fly at a much faster rate than what is was when the house was on 40 amp.
Has anyone experience this before?

You need to go to the municipality and ask. It's a free service but you going to have to pay if you want to increase it to 30 or 40 again.

Also, make sure that the day to day usage of your appliances s below 20 amp.

Can anyone confirm this one: "Set your fridge to 3°C – any lower and it will use more electricity than necessary;"

What happens if you go apvoe 20 amp? Does the box trip? What can you power with 20 round about? How do they do this? Come to your house and make a physical adjustment?

Ockie, I know this is off-topic, but are you still getting normal municipal electricity bills despite being on prepaid?

Nope. It was sorted last month. They credited us for the estimate readings they loaded up to the tune of about R7500.00 and after the credit was done the City of Joburg bill was in credit with R300.00 :D

I'm still getting bills and they've now started to list some of the amounts in the "due in 30 days" area of the bill...
