How to save more than 1 image as desktop background in XP.

Hello all.
A friend asked me how he could save more than 1 picture as a Desktop background in XP.
The pictures are already on the PC and cannot be scanned in.
He want to adjust the total pictures on display at any stage as well.
Basically a collage of say 3 or 4 displayed as 1 background.
If possible, free software.
It feels like I should know how to do this, but i don't.

That could work.
I think he is looking for a software solution, that would allow to change the pics easily without to much pt.

hmm, you could try Faststone .... that does batch resizing.

I use John’s Background Switcher to switch my backgrounds. You can specify different folders of pictures on your HD.
