I am two years divorced and ready to sell my engagement ring. How do I go about? I have the valuation from a jeweller - what is a fair presentage of the valuation that I can sell the ring for? Where do I sell it? How do I avoid getting scammed?
Damn, son! That must have been some massive bling!my ex gave the ring back cause she felt guilty about ending the engagement - I kept it for a few years then used it to buy a house! best thing I ever did!![]()

It took 2 pages for this to start, thought it would be quicker. Come on guys, up your game!
Sounds like he won because second hand jewelry is only worth the material which is probably 30% of the valuation. He gave it to me, in exchange for the furniture
I remember selling some random bits at Cash Crusaders before I left that no-one else wanted. Some lady came in with two small kids to have her ring evaluated. They looked like they were on hard times. And I just knew the **** behind that counter was going to give her the worst deal possible

It's called making a profit. Why would they share a too big piece of the profit with you, when making a profit (whilst facilitating yours) is the only reason they exist. Its like Pawn Stars - can't believe people sell stuff there. They all seem to get ripped off. First offer anyone gets is 50% of the value.
If you want to make more, then stop the laziness and sell it yourself (you as in in general).
Or uninformed, rather. I used Cash Crusaders a few times to get rid of **** that I knew I wasn't going to move online. It was either get something for it, or give it away. And yes, it's all about profit for them: they often mark up by about 500%.Good point. Guess people are just too lazy.

Yeah, was thinking of bid or buy. The logistics of avoiding scammers, baffles me.You'll only get your price if you sell it yourself.
Maybe try selling it on bidorbuy, take nice pics of ring and digitally watermark the certificates.
Strange how some things stick in our minds.
