Hi all,

I have a Huawei B315s-936 router and I want to configure port fowarding for remote desktop connection.
This is what i have done:
On the server: firewall disabled, RDP enabled, RDP user added, Noip client installed and running, static IP set outside DHCP range.

On the router: firewall disabled, virtual server added pointing to server IP via port 3389, server IP added to DMZ.

When I use an online port check tool is says the port is closed, what have I left out or what is the correct way of doing it on this router?

Why are you disabling all those firewalls.

Do you WANT to be hacked?

RDP will pass through firewalls just fine by default.

And then you add the server to DMZ....oh my hat. Do you have any idea what you are doing?

The problem is your provider not your configuration.

Turns your firewalls back on and take it out of the DMZ for your own safety.

If you're in the DMZ, you are in front of the router so none of the changes in the router are needed. You need to make sure the port is listening on the server.

Has anyone had success using this method:

"If your old router has Ethernet WAN port, use it as you did before (port forwarding, DDNS, connect all your LAN devices). Put router's WAN IP address in Huawei DMZ option. B315s will do all LTE things and will foward all packets in both directions. This is the best solution so far for Huawei "Gateway Routers"."

I agree 100%.

Also, which pc are you checking the port on? On the server? If not, it will show closed because if the server IP is the DMZ, then all traffic is going there if I'm not mistaken.

Put the damn firewall back on, leave the port forward, take off DMZ and that's it. RDP is generally not blocked by providers, but you never know.
