I dont have any licenses... yea wrt's is not that bad, I have had my bad luck with a mikrotik router once before , so I HATE mikrotik routers, those that you access from winbox, pff

Mikrotik is probably the best and cheapest routers you can get. Winbox is great but most work is done by terminal. Definitely the usermanager will sort you out. Can limit bandwidth, time etc.

Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime

I could answer the same questions a million times, or I can put the answer on a website somewhere and point people to it.

Or I could encourage you to think for yourself and work it out. It may feel like hard work in the short-term, but in the long-term it'll teach you valuable skills, and you might even learn something.

D-Boy, I hope you not supplying internet to your customers or charging them money for the service you provide, as that would be illegal to do without a VANS licence.

well I dont have a VANS lisence, and dont have the money for it,

"charging them money for the service you provide," hahaha man, ofcourse I charge them, I offer a good service, they have a guaranteed download speed to what package they picked out, and that goes for uncapped users also

No-one, since they no longer exist.
They've been replaced with ECN and ECNS licenses.

There are about 600 VANS that were converted to the new licenses...

yeah but alot of people(me been one of them) still know it as a vans licence..... was at the iccasa talk last year with the ecn and ecns licences but still better to get a licence because if you get caught there is huge trouble

yeah it is but it is cheaper to get the licence than to get the fine and have all your equipment taken away

Legal vs Illegal.

What would your customers think if they knew their service could get interrupted at any time and never return because you're operating illegally?
They'd probably leave you.

Illegal fly-by-night WISPs give the rest of the Industry a bad name.

Daffy, where the fack must I get the money for a license if I barely making enough to have more allowance money p/m, and I think probably most WISP are running illegal, and why the hell must this stuff be relegated, I dont see what harm can a couple of wifi antennas do, with internet embedded into them, its seems our independent WISP m*ffies always end up sucking on the wrong one
