Yo, now I'm going to mess is all up and talk about antennas for hotspots:

Issue 1 : How can we overcome the problem due to clients with their little build in "-300dB gain" hehe just about the gain" antenna and their sitting very far away from my hotspot, how can I fix this problem, their going to get my signal, but I might not get their little signal? so their going to get pissed of!?

Cover the area properly. Get a map/floor plan of the area you would like to cover. Plan were you think the AP's should go, do a site-survey to make sure that it is covered properly and you shouldn't have any problems.

I dint think doing a site-survey in my case will help the problem due to clients having low gain antenna in their laptops, because there going to be my clients its going to be a type of skyrove or something hotspot, Im still busy making up my mind about it. and im going to mount the omni and my place

I have just emailed ICASA and the cost for a ECS, ECNS and PECN license whatever is R10,000.00 < 10 years of profit, gone... :)

I'm sure that it might be awesome, but I dont have any money to spend on random stuff, I will stick to using my old pc's for servers. and by old, I mean 3Ghz P4's

hahahaha and still no real answers in this joint.....nee man.. :-(

before you start to read my stuff:

Terms and conditions: No, I'm not going to use RouterOS, I want to use open source and free stuff, ok... continue reading now if you accept....

The one most annoying thing I have found in my search for freedom, is.....most hotspot panther companies dont really want to share revenue, they want to use their own hardware, they want to use their own INTERNET, they want to use their own bandwidth..
like for example : Internet Solutions "http://www.is.co.za/hotspots"

Email from them, after a info request
/////////////

Please note that we can do a coffee shop model for you at this stage, and we do not offer revenue share on these models. – hence you will not generate any cash from having our service.

There is also a monthly cost that is involved – dependable on the model chosen and ranges from R250.00 – R1795.00 – from this you will need to have a Telkom ADSL line (which you already have) – we do not use equipment on site and prefer to install our entire solution as this forms part of our intellectual property and we want to ensure stable, effective transmission so that the customer experience is indeed one of quality and to keep with our standards in service delivery.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\

LOL, I want to make money not spend money, mofo's.....

but anyway....

My internet connection >>> lame lame lame lame lame lame MWEB 4meg upcapped ADSL, running @ 2meg international and running @ 3.5meg national, and upload is 40 kilo-bytes a second, complaining dont help, they will only tell you that their busy putting all the customers over to new backbone /or/ thier telling you that telkom have a problem with its fiber-optic line, and that its broken,

My server os point of view

Firstly : I hate windows, but you can unplug the power cord and you loose nothing like in my case, or in a power failure...and u can install anything on it.... u can even play solitaire on your server, if you have to
Secondly : I love linux...but...I can't work on Linux that good... "And I hate using terminal aka cmd prompt, because I have a life"... but anyway Linux will also get random stupid errors...and if you in plug the power or you get a power outage, you box will be tuning you with a attitude and cursing at you...it might even die if you lucky

I love Live Linux CD's with setups in... but...... you cant install any UPS monitoring software on that systems...because I use UPS'ses on my servers with a auto shutdown function after a couple of minutes of power outage, and then my server gets properly shutdown, taking its time, and then, the UPS shutdown down, and if the mains return, everything gets turned on by itself, kinda nice....

So.......windows...lame...popping errors...viruses..exploits..server application freeze up.....anti virus software making my system slow....but its easy to use....but not up for 24/7 internet serving duty, and a internet connection must be up forever....but I'm supposed to be happy with this.... :-/

freedom, are you free or are you dom, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

that system might be awesome and everything.... but... there is so many open source and free linux stuff out somewhere, that 24online.co.za might get out performed by free stuff, I'm just speculating.....not 100% sure

And I dont have money for more stuff, I dont see why my P4's cant do the same.....I have SSD drives in my one main server, the speed suck, but yea.. its like 4 times slower then my ide's, but yea, it runs ok, for a server...lol

I can't find better, its not the best, but its ok.. and they're also in the process of growing so if you have a problem with anything like firmware that needs a small fix, just phone, coz I did that, and pay a R800 phone bill like me <- :crying: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you have any methods of getting customers, don't be afraid to pm me, coz I need that very bad, I get around 30 wifi DHCP clients almost every day, but no business :crying:

EDIT : I guess no one have credit cards....

lol, I'm currently having crYp with my "body corporate" to put up my antennas on the roof

They can run upto 20 000 concurrent connections there is no free solution that can do that Im a believer in applaince base solutions.

Well, in the end it all runs on software "linux" but yes, appliance base solutions is probably better if you have 5000 users, bit for now, I don't need it, I don't have a 1TB fiber backbone, and 20 000 concurrent connections, well, not bad... I took my 600 limit of, on my proxy, because I freaked out my server due to torrent clients that running on idle..

But I'll dos my proxy later and see how many concurrent connections it can really handle
