So previously I used Hulu and Netflix, like about 6 months ago, but then we cancelled them both.
Netflix accepted my FNB Platinum Cheque card without any worries, but Hulu didn't. So like most other people, I used a prepaid credit card from buypowerseller. Just to make sure there's no confusion. I'm showing you how to do it without needing to get one of these horrible prepaid cards. Read the full guide please. But I didn't like that I was essentially paying a lot more.

So when I decided over the weekend to take up the services again, I went and did some more googling, and came across a really helpful Aus post. Which basically said to do the following.

  • Check with on your bank statement what you Postal Code/Zip Code is
  • Use the following site to find a US zip that will work with your postal code. I just entered a 1 infront of my postal code, 2531. So it became 12531. Which according to the site, is for Homes, NY. You can enter a number in front of yours until you get match, or a number behind until you get a match. https://tools.usps.com/go/ZipLookupAction!input.action?mode=2&refresh=true
  • Then use that zip code that you got a match on, when signing up for Hulu Plus. I created a new account. Took up the 1 week free trial, and entered my card details, with this ZIP, and it worked.

Hope this will help others save money and stopped being ripped off for those $2-$3 a month.

Is this new info?
I thought everyone knew this?

I haven't seen a post about this. It is usually just deep inside a topic with hundreds of posts. So I thought to save others effort, like I would have been able to save hours of searching, to make a dedicated one.

Thx, I did know about it but by having the right title and first post describing the solution will make it easier for people to search for this

When I read that I just heard the Fresh Prince theme.

"West Coxsakie, born and raised...."

Nope, doesnt work.
Think it is cause it wants an address. I went and got an address online for that area, but then I see stupid iTunes went and made it the full 5 digit, 4 digit zip.

Why? If you can use just your standard bank card?
For iTunes I think you'll still have to, as it doesn't accept the details like Netflix and Hulu does. Think it is due to that address.

I hate prepaid cards.

I don't think you read the whole guide.
It is so that you are able to use your own card. I'm saying don't use the prepaid cards. Just read through it again. Sorry if it is confusing.
