How traffic circles should be treated in South Africa

Yes, but in SA this only applies if marked as depicted.

If you have a multi lane traffic circle without explicit markings, you have to treat the lanes just as you would normal lanes on a straight road - i.e. if you want to move from the inner lane to the outer lane to take the exit, it is treated as a lane change and you don't have automatic right of way. This means that in South Africa, unlike most other countries, in a two lane traffic circle with no explicit markings you are within your rights to go all the way around in the outer lane (unless mandatory exit arrow is marked). I know, it's stupid, but that's how it works here.
jajaja, BUT if everyone follows that rule, There will NEVER be issues .... DONT go all the way around on the outside! ... it's usually woman (sorry to say but true) that's to damn scared to use the inside lane, that does that. :X3:

This theory falls flat the moment you have two lanes coming in to the circle from more than one side.

Another day, another idiot not knowing the difference between a mini-circle and a roundabout
Why does no one know how a mini circle works?

Trying to use a mini-circle correctly is an exercise in futility if you live in CT, I tried the other day and nearly got taken out by a Ford Ranger. It's safer to just yield to the right at all circles.

This.

I know fokol about mini circles etc. But you wait for the fsckers coming from the right. Then you get the fscking idiots that stop and give the queue on the left a turn to go.

You're supposed to stop and give the people on the left a go if they got to the line before you, like a 4 way stop. That's how a mini circle works

A mini circle (Red sign) is treated the same as a 4-way stop, If the person on your left stopped first they have right of way.

A traffic circle or roundabout (Blue sign) people already in the circle coming from your right, have right of way.

Not at a mini-circle you don't but then you did say you know fokol about mini-circles.

Just a yield sign with a round speedbump in the middle.

From here...

Most municaplities, traffic authorities, etc. use the signs interchangeably which causes a huge mess on the roads.

Happened to me again last night... idiot already in the traffic circle in front of me stopped dead to let someone else into the traffic circle coming from the outside of the circle.
And when you hoot at them and ask what are you doing... they look at you like you are the aggro one.

Seemingly because in South Africa, contrary to the rest of the world, mini-roundabouts aren't treated like roundabouts.

If your road rules/traffic codes don't apply universally, it's you who can't drive safely or competently in other countries.

I wonder how South Africans would navigate a double mini-roundabout. Especially since you don't treat mini-roundabouts like roundabouts.

It's a cluster**** when licensed people don't understand the rules that govern the road. What, after all, is the point of licences then?

That seems accurate.

East London had the right idea putting instructions on theirs.

But if you learned to drive in SA you should already know this.

It seems as if there is an unwritten rule when approaching a mini circle, that you floor the accelerator and advance at the highest speed possible so that everyone approaching on your left has to give way to you even if you have not entered the circle yet so as to avoid you crashing in to them.

That is pretty much the unwritten rule at any intersection in SA, even roundabouts, robots, yields, stops etc. So long as you get there as the fastest vehicle you have right of way.
