We can all do this. We are african. we braai and make a plan.
But can we survive water shedding?
Large towns and cities? No. Everything rests on running water and electricity in the cities.

There is an entire forum for such stuff in SA already, if the mods don’t mind I can point you to it with the greatest of pleasure
powerforum. you dont need the mods permission and the link is literally on the main forums landing page
Yep, I know about PowerForum.co.za and that there is a redirect link to that forum on MyBB's main sections page:

However there are threads on MyBB that still contain useful information about solar and going off the grid, surviving load shedding etc, the problem is that those threads are scattered across the various MyBB forums.

@rpm it would be useful if there was a specific "Load Shedding, Generators, Solar & Off the Grid" forum on MyBB for all of those threads.

Long ago, MyBB used to have an Eskom / Load Shedding subforum, we need that subforum to make related threads easier to find.

I have a borehole, but that said as soon as my toilets don’t flush I’m running for the hills.
No electricity is not even an issue for me. We will not die. We Braai!
But I get to have first world problems with no flushing toilets.

It depends on what you want to keep running.
The more you want to keep running the bigger the cost.

Sort of related.

Just before I emigrated from SA, was sitting in my CEO's office, talking about my resignation and why I had chosen to leave. He was asking the usual, what can he do etc. Then the building got loadshedded.

His discussion on why I wanted to go and what can he do to keep me, pretty much ended.
