I'm moving to Amberfield in Howick, KZN, so there's no confusion ;)

Amberfield doesn't allow Telkom lay cables for adsl, so now I need other options. Options that allow for real internet usage, I usually use around 150Gb a month.

I won't go into wireless and 3g costs here since most here know about them.

As far as I see, there's only one option, find someone in range of me you can have\host adsl line and then go wireless to them? Not sure of max range for this to work?

Any comments, suggestions would be appreciated.

If you don't want wireless and you cant get adsl, then basically you are stuffed unless Telkom allows you onto the fixed mobile line service. The only wireless provider there is very very very expensive.

I've done some additional looking.

I was told I need a license to setup a WiFi network between me and someone hosting an ADSL line for me. :(

Amberfield looks like a large setup. You telling me there's no Telkom lines there whatsoever?

Hi There,
If the wisps in the area are not an option and you now know that a dedicated wirelss is going to be pricy have you looked at Afrihost and their mobile option?

Regards

Tim
