HA i am not surprised at all.... We always have to be last in bloem. Apparently we dont have enough high end users.

Firstly: All 3G towers are HSDPA-enabled, so if you get 3G there a 99.9% probability you'll get HSDPA (I've got no idea what the 0.1% would be, but rather be safe....)

A few questions:

1) Are you on contract or pre-paid?
2) If on contract did you get a HSDPA or 3G contract?
3) If HSDPA contract, run a few speed tests on http://speed.vodacom.co.za/test and post the results. We'll do the next steps then.

Bloem's had HSDPA for months and apart from in the city center, coverage is good and download speeds the same.

Vodacom/Vodafone PC Card, 3G contract: Pretty consistent coverage around Bloem. Certainly better than the 140 you're getting.

Well i dont even considder hsdpa. On 3G i keep loosing 3G signal, and it just eats away at my battery life. I resorted to slow but cheap Virgin MObile.

Won't you try again?, all prepaid sims should be on HSDPA by default. Make sure you've rebooted your phone at least once to get the new settings.

Any download speed above 384kbits/s using Vodacom's network will be HSDPA.

Would love to know what caused this and what the actual fix was.

We've had a few situations of 3G-like speeds being reported and on the network they're configured as HSDPA.

dont know the actual cause...but had a program installed called onspeed that reduced file size while surfin (by the way, makin it much cheaper to surf)...could be that...or a downlaod manager or two. but i'm happy now...at least its faster than telkoms 512 offerin...

is there sumthin else i could do increase my speed...???
