Can we get a quick show of hands in which area the guys are getting the slow HSDPA throughput, especially the very low throughput sufferers (<100Kb/s).

Something like:

Area - suburb - typical speed

eg:

Pretoria - Waterkloof - <100Kb/s

Knysna - Knysna Hights < 100kb/s

But hopefully will be sorted out soon.

V3G thanks a million for your effort.:) :) :) :)

Alberton between 60 - 120 kbps - sometimes in the evening it's better.

Normally okay, but tonight something is wrong.

On Vodacom Speed test, 221 kilobits download, 28 kilobytes. Done it a few times, this was the top speed.

We normally get between 800 and 1100 kilobits, 3 bars of signal and using an Option nozomi card with 64k sim.

Something has definitely fallen over... ADSL is normal.

Centurion - Lyttelton - 100kbits/s if i'm lucky [3G speeds and lower primarily].

That's IF i manage to connect. I am on GPRS at the moment because the 3G/HSDPA is just too unstable.

I had HSDPA speeds [800kbps+] back in April when the big swop started, never saw anything above 200kbps since then .

OK, discounting the braggers (those with speeds in excess of 100Kb/s!) and Gboy, most people seems to be around the Pta area with some in Jhb.

Any more? No Mountain goats or Banana boys?

Remember, we're specifically after the sub 100Kb/s souls. Not that we're discounting the other low speeds, it's just that they're probably two separate issues and I'm trying to get a geographic feel of the very low ones.

Thanks for all the feedback, btw.

Is that 100 in kilobits or kilobytes?
The reason why Im asking is because I dont think Id be bragging with 100+ kilobits. If it's kilobytes well then I fall in the hapless souls group who get a max of 60 Kilobytes/s download.

What's going on in Welgemoed

Last Result:
Download Speed: 197 kbps (24.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 114 kbps (14.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Last week I was averaging over 1,000 although I never got above 1,400 kbps even though I am 200m from tower.

I ran the speed test 6 times now and performance is terrible.

Any ideas V3G?

Something wrong 2nite ...

Scottsville, Pietermaritzburg. 2 bar signal (my usual!)

After 3 attempts (first two timed out) GamCo Bandwidth Meter:

68.5 Kbps

"Normal" for here is 5-600 Kbps

"Best" is 1.77 Mbps (V3G has the Screenshot)

WTF?

Only Google loads fast (page must be cached EVERYWHERE)

I don't know if this is related but my 3g connection at my house has been dissapearing every few days for anything from a couple of mins to a couple of days for the past 3 weeks now. I've been using 3g now for about 8 months and i've always had good speeds and 3g coverage where i stay. Signal stregth is always very good on average -60 to -80 dBm.
