Heya
I am looking to carry bidirectional audio over a (stationary & in range)HSDPA connection to our studio for a remote/outside broadcast. I can run at 128k both ways, and maybe step down to 64k (only voice has to go accross the link, music is still handled by studio). Has anyone done any tests on how stable the speed is?
It would work out cheaper for us to use HSDPA even at the R2/meg option.
128kbit/sec * 2 (bidirectional audio) = 256kbit/sec
256kbit / 8 = 32kbyte/sec
32kbyte/sec * 60 = 1920KB/min
1920KB/min * 60 = 115200KB/hour
115200KB * 3 = 345600KB/show (3 hour)
345600 / 1024 = 337.5MB
337.5MB * R2 = R675
We normally pay R800 for telkom ISDN installation and 3 hrs calls plus R600 codec rental per day. We also get to setup a broadcast (in HSDPA range) in minutes not weeks as with ISDN!
