Earlier in this thread Ron mentions a "3rd party" solution for all their speed stick drivers... has this been released yet? I'm looking for drivers for their new ZTE dongles...

I have been absolutely thrilled with the performance of my Cell C 5GB deal with E1820 modem. In the three months, I have only had two days where there was a problem with data, and then it got fixed the same day. My speeds are always 6 - 9 Mbps, with ping times of less than 70ms. But I put this down to living in an extremely low traffic area - Richards Bay, but I have had similar success when spending weekends in Durban.

I was so confident that I got my girlfriend to buy into a Cell C 2 GB deal - she lives in Rivonia/Sandton. When buying her deal, Cell C said she must wait a few hours, as they had to load the latest software onto the stick - I think she said that they called the software "storm" ? she has the white ZTE modem. So, yes, it seems that there is new software that has just been released.

Well last night she was having uphill - showed excellent signal, but the second she tries to connect, the signal plummets to zero and she gets disconnected. I told her to take her MacBook Pro and speed stick to CellC this morning. I hope they resolve her problem, or no noogy for me this weekend. :crying:

In the Hatfield area and only getting Edge coverage on the white dongle. Been like that for the last month and a half at least. Have gotten to a point where I have just given up on using the dongle and basically have paid R1499 for nothing. Hopefully they sort out these issues soon.

This. cmon cellc. quit being lazy and fix it. i only get intermittent whooooooooooooooooooooooosh speeds most of the time its like k@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@k

Ugh, my *spit.snort* black "whoosh" stick STILL has all the 'speed' of a squashed slug. In fact, glaciers move faster than this thing. So too does my *kark* ADSL (we're at the bitter, bitter end of an exchange)

Is there ANY chance (this is directed at the Cell C reps here) that this will be made to work any time soon? Also, what of the allocated NON-rollover capacity I/we are now directly prevented from being able to use? Do we just piss that into the wind, or what?

Personally lost 500mb last month due to this... Totally sucks when you pay for something, then lose it because the provider can't provide. Funny how quickly action will be taken against a customer when an account isn't paid, but there's nothing customers can do when services aren't delivered as promised.

Yea I lost 750MB ... 15% of my cap ... because I couldn't do anything in the final week of last month. I haven't used it since - but hoping tomorrow is alright

Indeed. And one hopes that the CPA will give US the means to wield the stick the other way round!

by the way guys, my whoosh works fine from like 5am to 10 am, after that it dies for the whole day. the issue here is cellc simply underestimated the number of subscribers in pta. you cant fix that without getting better towers and cables etc.

Mine doesn't :/ It's dead 24/7. Absolutely loving how fast Edge is down here in the lowveld, with just one signal bar, vs HSPA+ with full signal in Gauteng...

Cause when they did...there was like 10 people on the network. Now that more people have jumped on...the network seems to be toppling over...and they dont know what to do about it....so they just keeping mum about it. Interesting how MyBB is not writing about it. Has there actually been a article about it? I cant recall seeing one.

err... they just won more spectrum (read this on MyBB this week), so capacity is clearly not an issue... ffs.

Like three days ago. That is hardly enough time for them to even place the order for more transceivers or whatever its called...not to mention to implement them on the towers. But perhaps that aint the issue. I find it hard to believe that the network in Cyrildene is so congested that it hardly crawls. But that is why I am saying...would be great for MyBB to send RPM or someone there to get some freakking answers out of Cell C to find out what the problem is....instead of letting people just complain complain and complain some more on here with no answers as to what the problem is being forthcoming.
