hey look there's a happy customer :) lol

downloading speed doesn't say much to me as I'm more concerned about how stable the network is
sure if you're downloading at 4-6mb/s constantly it's pretty much stable but I doubt that's the case

If you can't provide the same service/infrastructure to all areas being rolled out, then what's the point.(meaning if you fall in the red highlighted on the coverage map you should be safe for a perfect experience, which is not the case)

The main reason people would move to this service would be "reliability and sustainability", something Telkom can't really give insurance on (yet it's more reliable then mobile network), so if Cell C can't provide that to users falling in the small coverage currently available then I don't see the point of launching the product now.

And, are you really going to use 5GB for downloading (what 7 movies) at 6mb/s (that means at that constant rate your cap will be out after 14 minutes), this 5GB would be ideal for gaming - doesn't seem like that's going to work

@dropdead which part of Centurion are you? please direct message onlinesupport@cellc.co.za with your contact details and will contact you for assistance...DM

I am becoming the biggest CELL C hater that ever lived. I had to use my Vodacom modem and pre-paid account to write this. My black speedstick just refuses to work.I have been trying to update my Iphone's software. It starts the download and then just cuts off at 17MB-This way i will never download the 665Mb for the upgrade. Everytime CELL C scores the 17 mb that i tried to use.

Lars, if you see this, please PM so that i can establish what is the problem-prove to me why i should not hate Cell C so much!!!! This is my first Cell C product and it will be my last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

I have been experiencing this problem since January. I get no throughput for 99.9% of the time. It has simply being unusable. I have sent numerous emails to online support and had some feedback (reference number 1320319). Cell C admits that there is a problem with site id 1039 but cannot/have not/will not give me an indication when this will be resolved. I have 4.9Gb for this month remaining, I lost 4.9Gb last month. Will there be any compensation for the data that cannot be used due to a Cell C fault? All I request is some feedback with regards to this fault.

Same issue in Midrand, Kyalami. I emailed support....Cellc please follow up.....

This won't address you network issue, but I suggest you Google for off-line installer for Iphone like this (IOS 4.3):

http://www.ihackintosh.com/2011/03/download-ios-4-3-direct-download-links/

You can then use a Downloader like Free Download Manager, and if your connection gets broken, you simply reconnect and can resume the download from the last point.

Good luck.

ps If you have Win 7, upgrading this way may not work. It doesn't for me. I have to use my laptop that has Win XP, works perfectly then.

ps If you've never done it this way before, follow these instructions:

iPhone 4. It can be upgraded to in iTunes by holding the alt/option key (for Mac users) or shift key (for Windows users) while pressing the “Check for Update” button in iTunes, and selecting the downloaded IPSW on your drive.

Busy getting mine now via Cell C. Download speed of this 669Mb file is between 8500-9200Mbs...

PPS Well, what do you know. About half-way through the download, it stopped. On investigation, discovered I had blown my 2Gig allowance. So after swapping out the SIM for my 5Gig SIM, the download continues, averaging 9mbs.

I know hearing my speeds will just irritate you, but it does show that the network can deliver, you just need to work with Cell C to establish what your issue is. Its surely either location or base station issues.

Oh. my 669Mb download os finished already. Must go, Iphone/Ipad to update. ;)

Later!

Just some feedback on this.

I had a call from CEllC support-Tahir from Durban called, tested everything and said they would send some techies out in the net few days-this was last week Wednesday-. That was it, nothing any further, no Techies, no contact, nothing!!!! Some service!!!

Then out of the blue i get another delivery today, another Modem and another sim card- no explanation!!!!. and knowing them i returned it, just now they charge me for 2 USELESSSSSS!!!!!!!!! Modems and useless service!

Where's Cell C's Whoooooosh In Krugersdorp

1204690684.png

This is the sort of speed I am getting in Krugersdorp and it also frequently disconnects. Now I can see why Cell C 3G is priced at 5c/MB. What you see is what you pay.

With all this frustration of frequent disconnects I will rather pay more for an always on connection.

Cell C's 3G/HSPA is simply not worth it and to think I almost took out a contract with them!!!

Disappointed in CellC

Went to my nearest CellC shop (Wonderpark) in December 2010 to sign up for their data promotion. The store assistant indicated that the our area will only be covered in February 2011. Went to the store again in Feb and I was told that coverage will be available before end of March. Today I was told that there is still no coverage and they cannot say when or if coverage will be available in this area.
So now it is off again to Vodacom for a data bundle.

I love my Cell C data

I have been getting nothing less than 7.5 Mbps since I first started with them in early December, also no disconnects here.

I think that Cell C wants to consolidate and secure existing coverage before expanding & potentially adding to the problem.

Ya the cellc staff in shops dont know anything you wont find on this forum. They seem to bend the truth to keep you happy and hook you on their products.

But I'm a happy customer thus far despite the occasional disconnect.

Hi there!

More feedback: I recieved this mail yesterday:Hi Hugos

according to network TT 1,335,235 that was logged on the 10/03/2011 , you are being serve by Site 2106 and there is no 3G in the area.

please confirm if this is the same Cell Id that you are getting and if you we able to connect to 3G before.

Kind Regards

David

One thing i do not understand-i complained that the modem gets hot and then disconnects, or connects and just "hangs", Signal has always been WCDMA or HSPDA+. Now i must learn that there is no 3G, although CellC's coverage map indicates it. Also, if they knew which sites do not have 3G and they knew my residential adress(contract details), why did they still engage in a contract with me for the service that they do not offer in my area?
Will CellC now offer to cancel my contract that has latent defects?- i do not think so!!

Maybe it would be wise for me to discuss this further with the ASASA? I will wait for the outcome of the mail sent to David yesterday.
