@ronbo4Gs..... I beg to differ

I lodged a query by email and was contacted on Sunday 16 Jan and given the Ref: 1293226 and promised a follow up within 48 hours. The follow up never came. I made a follow up with the tech department via the call centre and was promised a feedback later in the day and it never came

Earlier tonight things got stupidly slow and my speed test results were ;

In December I was getting 3Mb/s up and down @ the same location

Lonehill, Fourways, just across from Fourways Mall.

My signal 3kms down the road was fine but now I can't connect to anything other than EDGE :(

Lanseria Airport - EDGE only, slow <5kbps, disconnects, connection dies.

Honeydew - Eagle Canyon - EDGE only - was initially a WCDMA connection - now gone.

South of Johannesburg 3G towers are down - I am only able to pick up edge this has been ongoing for 2 days on and off - When using MDMA and forcing the connection to use 3G only - I see the bar but no network name or anything....

Will Cell C pleasE switch on the base station - If Cell C adjusted the mast thanks a lot :( cause even edge is terrible RSSI - 97 dBm before was getting in the region of - 78 or is their site congested and too many users on the network

Dear Ron, what is happening here in the South of Johannesburg, the 3G tower is on / off as I am unable to pick up any signal forcing 3G when using EDGE rssi has reduced significantly by from -75 dB now to -97 dB. This has been ongoing for 2 days, 1 day it works, the next day the base station is off...

Dear Ron, I live in the Douglasdale/Fourways area and ever since January this year my internet speed is extremely poor. I purchased the Cell C 21Mb data stick and ran a speedtest getting around 5.9Mb download. I am lucky to get 1.5Mb with and average of below this! Many times as low as 1Kb or 2Kb a sec. I have logged calls at your data centre now since the beg on Jan and just to be told that they are working on the problem. I would like someone to please just let me know what is going on and why there are issues!

With all due respect I understand that I am not always going to get super fast speed, but 1.5Mb per sec is not acceptable for that fact that I am paying for a 21Mb connection!

Please help

I agree with Richard, 3G in the south has disappeared since Sunday.

My RSSI is -103 dBm and I can't connect at 3G to the usual tower.

I can only connect at EDGE at a different tower, but it's painfully slow.

Not so, you are paying for a connection to a network that is theoretically capable of a 21.6 Mbps connection, but don't even remotely expect that in real world terms. Anyway, I'm just up the road from you in Norscot and was getting 7 Mbps downloads in December, now it's between 1 and 2 if I'm lucky and can get something remotely like a stable connection.

I can connect on 3G, but no data coming through. This often happens and it drives my CRAZY!!!!!

This American thought he found the problem but he was wrong. Or he fiddled with something and now he's messed it up.
All I wanna know is have they found the problem? Or am I gonna stay on EDGE for the rest of the year?

looks like they may have finally done something in Norscot area, have had a stable connection all day, not a single disconnect since about 09:00 this morning, or maybe I've accidentally found the perfect sweet spot as I haven't changed the position of my modem all day :erm::confused:

agree. Something is definitely happening in my area well...i.e. Noordwyk, Midrand......my router with speedstick has been online for a record breaking 4 days without any disconnects or edge. speeds are somewhat stable between 4 and 6 mbps as per December period...hope i aint jinxing myself here

some official feedback from cellc would be appreciated…..

Just as we thought Ron would come to the rescue, he disappeared even faster than the previous Cell C rep! Are they too scared to face the reality? There are a lot of issues they need to sort out, but it is just easier to move away from them. Come on Cell C, take some responsibility here!!!!!

This is total BS haven't had any 3G for the past 3days or so, would be nice if cell c could put a network notice page of faults occurring on their network that way we don't flood them with phone calls and the Technical Help desk is useless he says I don't have coverage but I freaking do

Looks like they switched my tower on tonight (ID: 11422) 3 Bars, RSSI -95dBm.



Maybe they will sort yours out tomorrow, since we are close to each other. I didn't have any 3G since Sunday.
