Hey guys!

I see under the members page on the leaf site, there are firmware updates one can download.

I assume that it is recommended that one updates this firmware every once in a while?

Also, there is no description to go with the updates, like no release notes. I would like to know what it fixes. Does anyone know where there may be such notes?

Anyways, I have the S710(Vox). I have googled for info about rom updates, but didn't really see anything for/about my phone.

I am new to WM, don't really know wat's going on yet. Has anyone else installed the new rom on their s710 yet? Is it worth the dload and trouble?

Hehe, contract :D Dunno how much it costs without the contract though, but you can get it on contracts like procall 120 and activechat 100 etc. So I don't think it's too expensive.

O ja, don't worry about the firmware, it's the same version it shipped with.

Yup sludgie,

firmware updates are cool, they basically update the windows version on the phone.

For custom firmware & goodies, check out xda developers.

look for the VOX.

HTC Vox update

I also downloaded the HTC Vox upgrade. The installation took about 15 minutes. Afterward I noticed that the backlight issue was solved, and the device was no longer application-locked. Also, the naff Leaf branding was gone from the phone.

I was a bit puzzled by the paranoia of the download process from Leaf, who sms you links to d/l from. Surely they must know there are a zillion ROM dumps on the Net??

To get the best out of this phone, you need to hang out in one of the many forums for WM smartphones. A registry editor is a must.

Also get WM Wififofum, a free util for... let's just say, detecting wireless networks.

FWIW I was there this morning and they say coming in 2 weeks and that I shouldn't download the one already available on the web. They will only support the one you download from them.
Makes sense to me. Any other views/tips/comment?

Okay that doesnt make sense to me at all ... why will they not support the current official HTC WWE ( world wide english ) ROM ???
i can understand not supporting a cooked ROM .. but an official ROM.
Anyway, these guys are listed as a repair centre for HTC, all devices from HTC have a world wide warranty, which means your HTC device can be repaired at any authorised HTC repair centre.

You can already download this firmware upgrade from the HTC Europe Website (http://www.europe.htc.com/en/press/latestnews.html).

Did my TyTN two weeks ago and another two units this weekend. Works like a charm, and even sorted out the extremely short battery-life issue we had with one. Push e-mail is live as we speak.

Direct link to ROM:

did the download. started at 10h00 on Wednesday , went to lunch, got back and carried on working. Finally the 'connection reset' at about 88% just after 18h00.
Took Pc home and left it downloading (I can see Vodaworld from home) until it reset at 38% around midnight
Finally tried 3rd time at 06h00 this morning and got my 54 megs in about 90 minutes

I can't say 3g/hsdpa is slow or fast. But I can see it is not consistent!

Then had to get Activsync 4.5 and its all installed and looks good.
Not synching my contacts yet, but will investigate. Suspect a RTFM problem

I got a p4350 a week ago, just in time to update it to WM6, anyhow off the europe htc site I was getting a solid 2k/sec and it dropped out twice (im on broadband) XDA Developers had a mirror which made it much easier.

Update went fine even on vista, awesome.
