Just got mine and wondering if there a user thread with tips etc?

really enjoying mine atm , really nice phone for a sub 200 a month contract phone.

Only thing that is tiny bit slow at start up is google chrome , rest is fine :)

still running stock rom and not overclocked, heard you can overclock to 1.5ghz even more sometimes from 1ghz.

Updated the phone with the software update, works quite good :)

in task manager it show my total ram is 384mb? suppose to be a 512mb ram phone :(

and i can only use 900mb of the total 4gig onboard memory, think it is suppose to be more?

also come with free 25gb dropbox storage which is nice :)

My son got his One V yesterday. He is extemely happy with it.

One thing we could not get right last night was to connect to a wifi hotspot. I set up a hot spot on my lappy and the phone did not pick it up (my ipod connects to the hotspot). Is there a specific app that he might need?

edit:

I just had a quick look and you are right. The phone says 275mb used and 90mb free???

It picks up the neighbours router but I do not have a wireless router (quick buy when the old one blew).

The ram that is missing is usually reserved for the GPU of the phone, ICS has hardware acceleration enabled which uses the GPU to draw the launcher and apps etc which makes it quick.

There will probably custom kernels later where you can dedicate less ram for gpu, then you will have more for the system.

Regarding the rom space, 900 out of 4gigs does seem less. My razr has 16gigs but only 8gigs are available for storage, 4gig is used for system and installing applications, the other 4gigs is reserved for webtop.
Maybe the one V has something similar, like 1gig for system, 1gig for storage, 2gigs for something else

Did you get it on Vodacom Smart Lite at that price?

nope because it isonly available online, and cant be at work or home for delivery as i am on the road allot. ( they manager dont even know about that deal in the store)

In store they have it on talk 120 for R199 , 250mb data included per month.

I did not qualify for it as don't have much of credit record, so i got top up 135 for R135 a month , and R1700 pay in.

Would just like to confirm this. My phone only reports 477Mb of 512Mb RAM in About (Motorola Defy with CM9). It does sound like HTC awarded quite a large percentage of the Ram to HWA in the One V though.
