Please help me. I have an HTC One X from MTN on a contract. It died in the second half of last year and I submitted it to MTN, requesting a replacement. They did not replace it but returned it to me, saying that it was repaired. It worked until December and then died again. It is still under warranty, being less than a year old.

I want to return the phone to MTN and cancel my contract, forfeiting the money I have paid so far for the hand-set but freeing myself of MTN's remarkably bad service, hardware and policies.

What should I do?

I took the phone to MTN in Cavendish and they said that, because I got the phone through MTN Business, I must talk to MTN business. MTN Business take forever to reply to emails and seem completely uncontactable through other means. They also told me to take it to an MTN store and have not replied since I said that the store told me to take it to them!

This is a farce. I will never allow myself to be locked in to a contract with a cell-phone provider again, even if this means I will have a Nokia N100 forever.

Glad you learned that contracts signing with cellphones are the same as with the devil.
You will sell your soul only to get cheated at the end.

Update: Since the courier collected my dead phone, I have not heard from MTN. They have not cancelled my contract and have invoiced me for January and February. This saga has now continued for eight months. I have paid them for eight months and yet I still have not received a moment's service or the device they contractually agreed to supply in good working order.
