The specs are almost 99% the same.

S710 is smaller and lighter and it is also newer technology.

S710 also have WM6 installed though you will be able to install WM6 on the P4350.

I will choose the S710 because I like the idea of having a sliding keyboard as well as a normal keypad.

Agree with Piesang. I have the P4350 and while it is a good phone/PDA, I miss having the keypad on the front panel as well.

Piesang, how can I load WM6 on my phone? Is it more stable?

The lack of 3G is extremely irritating, it is major disadvantage with these new HTC devices. The new HTC touch which they claim will compete with the iPhone is also 3G free,

I dont use the phone's internet very much... Use it to sync my calendar & sometimes mail.... so 3G is not that big a deal for me.. :)

HTC has the phone listed as a smartphone and not a PDA. So the main difference would be that you can only view and not edit Word and Excel files on th S 710.

Microsoft Mobile Windows 6 and Pocket Office, mmmm. Yes, you will be able to create, edit and save any type of Office Document.

It's mainly the Microsoft Mobile Windows for Smartphone devices that you cant edit files on.

mmm.... They must have changed something with WM6 a new mobile office maybe?, because I can edit files on my vox. But you cannot create files. No biggie though, just copied a blank .doc onto the phone and then choose "save as" every time.

I dunno if it has the same functionality as the pocket pc editions though.

Are you happy with your vox? How is the phone processor handling usage? Battery Life?

Yeah, I'm quite happy with it. The battery life is quite good, but I really can't say for sure, because I haven't used all of its functionality, like wifi and edge. Dunno if those make a significant impact on battery life. But I have watched video on it and it didn't drain the battery too much.

Erm, the processor, well dunno again really, like I said, I haven't really installed any third party software to date, but it doesn't feel slow etc.

Like I said, I did play some video on it, 3GP2 format 20FPS with 64k sound, stereo, no problems whatsoever. Dunno if this is a good "test" though.

Just a little lag when you open a app or when you slide the keyboard out. But remember it uses windows, so I'm used to it :D

The build quality is great, the rubberised cover feels wonderful, the keyboard is awesome, just a little troublesome to get to the buttons in the corner, but it surely beats using a keypad when typing a long msg.

The software that comes with it for XP is a bit basic, only activesync and a 60 day outlook trail (which won't install on my pc) . Nothing too fancy there...

The camera is probably fine, can't really comment there, only thing I know is it beats the crap out of my old 640*480 camera....

Erm, yeah haven't used it that much yet, but if you want to know anything else I would be happy to try and answer your questions.

PS. I've also played with the P4350, also a great phone. Hard choice, also had to make it, I took the vox because I'm not such a heavy user I often send sms's with just a few words in them, have to dail random numers every now and then, etc.
All done quickly with the normal keypad.
I was also afraid of keeping that big unprotected scrren in my pocket, I'm quite clumsy and always walk into things...

Well if you can edit office files on the S710, it might just be my next phone.

Sorry about my first post, I should've done my homework first. Yes, you can edit excel and word files. The functionality is not the same as the ppc edition. It doesn't have a touch screen also. But from the review I think it's a brilliant phone with an excellent form factor and size. Here's links to detailed reviews of the S710:

and the P3450:

This site has very nice in-depth reviews of smartphones and pda's with pictures.

You cant make calls/look up numbers while you driving and using the 4350 you need to use both hands! I hate that about that phone!

Let us know what you think of the phone once you get it. BTW thanks for starting this thread. It got me to do some research and now I'm on the lookout for one myself. :)
