Okay ... Tuesday i powered up the TyTN II for the first time.
oh my garden ... this device is light years apart from the previous model.
i have never been a fan of a device with a slide out keyboard and i am still not but i must say the build quality looks and feels at least 10 times better.
The network wizard actually works for South Africa ( this is the first time i have seen this other than on a Eten device )
The most impressive part of this device is the Qualcomm MS 7200 chipset.

the device also supports the SD HC cards so my 4 gig micro SD can be used after all.
HTC has gone and thrown in the TouchFlo as well. you dont have the 3D cube but you do have the ability scroll with your finger with out using the scroll bars.
the 256 MB ROM and 128 MB RAM gives you ability to add even more applications without slowing down your device.
World card Mobile has been added ... take a picture of a business card and the contact details are sucked up. as with any OCR software it is not perfect but it is not dog poor. you might have to edit some details but not wholesale changes. it is a lot quicker than doing everything from scratch.
the GPS reciever is not a standalone unit. it uses the Data Channel on your device ... i used a gprs data monitor and after using the GPS for an hour the data traffic was 9KB
I have to stress this ... the Chipset on the device is like nothing i have seen before. the MS 7200 is based on dual core technology, it is not longer just your processor. the gps forms part of it as well as your video and graphics.
This is the new industry standard.
