Hi

Not sure which phone to get , HTC Adv X7501 or HTC S710.

If any one is currently using or has some advice to offer.

Thanks

Johnny, the advantage is huge, and IIRC, you cannot use it as a phone (ito putting it to your ear to have a conversation ... it is either handsfree or a kit of some sorts). That thing is a mobile PC, and not a phone/pda combo.

the S710 sure looks nice, and the normal phone keypad definitely useful, however, well for me in any case, it will depend on the processor in the S710 ... I have a TyTN, and its got quite a powerful processor, but with a couple of apps not properly programmed or whatever the case might be, it can become very slow ... my point is that I would say go for the S710 or TyTN, depending on the processors ... I had the opportunity of playing with a P4350, and it is MUCH slower than the TyTN

If you can wait a while, get the HTC Kaiser ... very nice indeed ... it is the TyTN's replacement

I now own both an HTC Advantage and a Nokia E90. The more I use the HTC, the more I appreciate the Nokia. I don't know why but I was expecting so much more with Windows Mobile 5, but the OS still looks and feels like a dinky toy (ala Win 3.1). IMO the E90 is by far the best phone/pda on the market. I'm aware that I could hack and tweak the HTC but I don't have endless time on my hands.

The best thing about the Advantage is that it comes with a very cool brown leather case.

S710 is running windows mobile smartphone vision, not ppc vision, that is why it is not touch screen. But qwerty keypad with normal keypad is nice.

If you want a really "smart" phone, go for the E90.

I was also a I-Mate user (K-Jam for 1 full year), but I got tired of using the on-screen keypad to dial numbers, soft-resetting the phone 3 times a week, pulling out the stylus when it shouldn't really be necessary, and loading apps on the phone to try to get it to work like a "normal phone". And oh yes, trying to send an sms using one hand.

I really loved the keyboard and the big screen.

The E90 should be just a little more than the Tytn. If you want to spend less, I think the HTC S710 will be a good bet, but it won't be as advanced as the Windows PPC OS.

Don't know what you're looking for, but I wanted:
hsdpa phone
no sliding parts
reasonable battery

I chose the samsung i600 and haven't looked back

Htc S710

Does anyone have any experience over the HTC S710 about speed of the applications of WIN Mob 6.0?
Also, can the Pocket excel files be password protected?

The S710 is a very decent smartphone ... by default app does not allow you to password protect any files or documents ... you would be able to password protect the phone itself.
if you need to lock specific doc's third party apps are available.
as for the Dude that started this post .. Jeepers X7500 or the S710 these 2 devices are in totally different leagues. for Excel you need a decent display
ask your service provider about the P6300 it has a nice 3.5 inch display good for excel
