HTTP downloads so slow, Torrents fast???

I have persistently had this problem with 8ta where occasionally (not always) HTTP (i.e. web browser) downloads are slow (<50KB/s) but if I start a torrent a minute later it will go at 200KB/s-300KB/s! I think it might only happen on a certain tower, but I would have to research this a bit more to confirm. Any reasons as to why this could happen? Problem my side or 8ta's?

Same story, living with it. But my HTTP has picked up a bit. I'm on MTN. I prefer this than HTTP flying at 500KB/s and torrents at 50KB/s.

Well if I need to download a large pdf or video for work purposes it bugs me more that it takes 20min to download rather than the latest episode of whatever taking 30min instead of 2 hours when I'm sleeping anyways :p

I have had the same issues, http downloads at between 40-50kb and torrent easily reaches 400-500kb.

I have downloaded Free download manager...

www.freedownloadmanager.org/

This app can download torrents as well as http files.. it has pause/resume/stop features and plenty more.

This app searches for the specific files on the internet that are exact in size and name too the one you are downloading .. Making downloads fly...

Try this to improve http download speeds..

Probably the way their system tries to "throttle" you. Let's say each download thread is throttled to 50KB/s then http goes 50KB/s, torrents go at 50KB/s * however many peers can provide that. Then yes, using a download manager that will do multiple threads on http will help.

things were dead slow last night even using different types ports. Throughput was on and off for international last night and very irritating, took around 3-4hours to download 700 meg which normally should take me about 30-45minutes roughly, maybe they still find turning their network

Could also be a throttle system now imposed due to network usage the more busy the throttle the quiet the network is no throttle who knows to be honest

I was online last night too, and my torrent downloads were running at a good speed. But when I tried to just browse the internet, I kept getting "trouble displaying page" errors and everything just took forever to load (if it actually did load). I even turned off my firewall just to get some speed going and that helped a little bit. What's going on with 8ta? It's been like this for months now!
