Hi Guys,

Been trying to get the Huawei B593 LTE Router with SmartBroadband Wireless 100 GB Package for the last two weeks without success. I've tried using the "Order Me" or "Call me back" functions on Telkom's website and no one has contacted me when trying either. I've tried to go to the Telkom Shop at the Kolonnade and across the road at the Kolonnade Retail Shopping centre but the queues have been very long when I've tried going during the week or on the weekend. Are there any other ways of ordering online through telkom or through a 3rd party company? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hey Alt3ri5,
You can buy the B593 at Makro for R1799 and get the 100 Gb + 100 Gb Sim only deal on a month to month basis. Just did that today, just waiting for the sim to be activated.

Suggesting this as an alternative option.

@grubsner I'm trying to sort out the sim only deal - on the website it only seems to offer to sell me the PMx24 with device option. Did you do it online or must it be done in store?

I actually went to the Telkom Direct store with all the paperwork in hand. Received the sim card after they had issues loading my details onto the system. Still waiting for the sim to be activated. Will follow up tomorrow if still not working. I didnt bother with the website since I could not figure it out! Lol

Thanks. Do you mind saying which paperwork they require? Is it just ID + proof of address, or do you need more because it's contract, albeit a month by month one?

The application form you can get from the TM shop (3 pages) and you also need: copy of ID, payslip, 3 months bank statement and proof of residence. I initially had an argument with the TM rep because I already have 2 ADSL lines with Telkom and could not understand why I had to be vetted again for a SIM deal that is month to month. apparently they treat you as a new customer and keep the mobile contracts separate from the fixed line business. so long story short, just take the docs and you will have no hassles. There is apparently a new contract capturing system that causes some issues. Not sure if this is only limited to the store I visited? (Umhlanga Ridge in Gateway Mall)

Shout if you need more help.

Looks like I might not be able to get it for now - we've only just moved to SA and bank account not even set up yet. I might try at the Telkom store anyway. Afrihost don't require any of that, it just debits my card once a month. I guess I could get a friend to do it for me possibly.

Do you know if there's any cancellation charge? Seems a bit weird if it really is month to month that they have the same contract sign up rules.

I didn't ask about the cancellation fee to be honest. I would assume worst case is one month notice. They treat the month to month deal as a contract and this the reason for all the paperwork. There is also no rollover of data to the next month. you loose the data you dont use. still a smashing deal.

Month to month cancellation: 1 months fee

Term contract: 1 month + 1/3 of monthly fee multiplied months outstanding (this is to recover cost of included device)..... can only get quote when requesting cancellation as device costs vary.

Makes sense for the device contract, but puts me off the SIM only. I guess you just factor that cost into your monthly budget, estimating how long you'll run it for. Afrihost don't have any cancellation fee, but this deal is now quite a bit cheaper.

Hi all...i am thinking about also applying for this. Does anyone know if you can change your package (upgrade or downgrade) at any time?

I had the same issue trying to get a 30+30...TelkomZA sent my contact details to the Sales department.

They debited my account today...so hopefully I receive it soon.
