I have no marketing education, but I wonder about the aim of such a campaign. Is it to improve the company's image and improve sales in future, or is it to increase sales for this period? I doubt this flash sale will achieve either.

Your last sentence is the aim! Drives like this do two things.
They increase their cache with online monitors (site has traffic they can boast about, YouTube algorithm sees that they are popular)
And also, the page is built to advertise. The mega bundle was the loss leader, but other people will see their other "specials", others will share the link to their store, and others still will return to spend their coupons. And considering you get R200 just for registration, I think they're quite happy with the last group.
