Brand new, bought it at the computer shop last week, searched around on the web to see if someone else had the same problem, drivers are new, usb "switch device off to save power" is disabled, brand new Windows 7 install on my SSD and it keeps doing these random disconnects, and also logs itself out of the control dashboard whenever it likes. Internet will freeze up, stop working, give me a triangle in the windows notification area. Heres screenshots from the dashboard that show when it does this. My best guess is its sending data but not receiving, trying to figure out whether its a network problem MTN/Telkom (Telkom SIM on MTN Roaming) or local PC/Hardware problem. Firmware also on the latest version.

It logs itself out, it is normal.
These HiLink devices are able to hide network disconnection from the Windows user, so even 3G connection is temporary lost, there will be no notification in the Windows tray. If you see such notification, then there is an indication that router is rebooting itself. I saw it when using ZTE router. It could be because of Telkom kicking you out of the roaming state. Try manual network search and select MTN then test and repeat the same with Telkom. If it happens again with both networks, then it might be a hardware problem with the router.

Cool I'll try that, although sometimes it'll happen at 5 mins, and then not for an hour, I have a strong feeling it might be hardware related. My old modem could go 4-5 hours without even a single speed drop on either MTN/TelkomSA(8.ta). Thanks for your help

Is this device powered by USB? If so, it might not be getting sufficient power. Try different physical ports (e.g. back instead of front, etc.), or a USB cable with two type-A plugs (for extra power), or a powered USB hub.
