Hi everyone,

Haven't seen a thread for this phone yet. Wondering if anyone has gotten one? Your thoughts on the device? We're you lucky enough to get the watch with? Small reviews? Is the camera as mediocre as they say?

Regards

No one seems to be that interested in it.

Picked mine up last week. With the Watch. Both are amazing. Upgraded from the Note 4. It really is an amazing device.

Phone lasts a full day with heavy usage. Watch lasts a fill day with heavy use, or two full days with moderate usage.

The phone screen is nice and bright, massive of course, the fingerprint scanner is super sensitive and the 3GB of RAM are more than enough.

The only thing missing is the ability to add a second SIM.

Camera seems fine to me :)

Congrats man! :) I'm waiting for the Note 6.

If I hadn't waited I would've gone for a Mate 8 to, stunning device, that super thin bezel around the display, and the metal unibody are truly amazing. Enjoy it!

Thanks, I'm really enjoying it!

I'd have waited for the Note 6 but I think it might be so similar to the Note 5, and the price tag will be crazy.

The only other thing I'd add is that if you are a fan of notification LEDs, like me, you are going to be very disappointed with the one on this phone. It is so tiny, they may as well not have bothered with it at all.

It looks like a pin-head and can't be more than a few pixels wide. :/

Anyone else with a Mate 8 out there?

Can you get the double knuckle tap to work? For me it works maybe 10% of the time :(

I think it was PocketNow or Android Authority or some other reviewer who mentioned the Knuckle Feature is a work in progress, they to also found it difficult to get it working.

Has the phone had some updates? Surely Huawei are aware and are improving it as this is quite an important phone for them, being a direct Note Range and iPhone Plus competitor.

I have the Huawei P8 MAX - same as P8 but bigger screen, almost 7 " (Not available in South Africa, and has 2 SIM trays...which could be used as one SIM and one SD card....or two SIM cards

I just tried the double knuckle tap and it does a screen shot for me. Although it needs to be a fairly firm double tap

Did you buy it overseas or import it?

I can wait for the days when 3 slots are standard. Two for SIM and one for SD card.

I was in the UK on holiday, and ordered mine from Texas in the USA off eBay. Almost all of the P8 MAX phones available on eBay were the DAV-703L - which are the Chinese models (which can work in English with a bit of work). However, I was after the international English version DAV-701L. There was one available new in the box in the USA, so I ordered it and had them send it to me in the UK. I placed the order on a Monday, and it was delivered to me In Wales, UK two days later on the Wednesday night.

Good phone, loving it..

Hi guys, how are you finding your Mate 8s so far? With the Note7 not being that different, and having a huge premium on it, I'm thinking Mate 8 now.

Is it receiving the monthly security security updates?

Nevermind, just got off the phone with Voda, they only have the 32GB 3GB RAM variant. Will just wait for the Note7 in that case.

I have that one. Still digging it. Battery life excellent. So is the fingerprint scanner. No problems to report.

My only complaint remains the tiny (almost invisible) LED light for notifications.

Can anyone tell me how to have a WhatsApp message turn the screen on, but for the content of the message to be hidden in the lock screen notification? The Internet doesn't seem to be able to tell me the answer...

I can either have the notification light up the screen and display the contents of the message on the lock screen notification, or I can have the notification for not turn the screen on at all, and display no lock screen notification. :/
