Hi there

Anyone else experiencing huge packet loss? Pinging google.com and iburst.co.za delivers > 70% packet loss.

Please use http://visualroute.visualware.com/ and inform of your results....

Apparently iBurst will do some maintenance on the network tonight after 12pm…

"The Network guys are going to effect some configuration changes tonight post Midnight during our maintenance window to see if we can alleviate this problem."

I have recently experianced massive loss too. I think there was an issue with the Cape Town system. Today i the afternoon i recieve between 40% and 60% loss. Im praying for this to all be sorted out soon.

Browsing in general today was bad but seems better again tonight, as I mentioned before downloading speeds have been acceptable.

This past Sunday was the best day for speeds both download and browsing for more than a week, then this morning went bad again with high packet loss.

Network back to normal...

I know it's early in the morning and the corporates haven’t jumped online, however it seems iBurst has managed to correct the problem with high latencies and packet loss - should check around 13:00 again when the network is congested.

Yes right now all seems fine and I'll keep check over the rest of the day.

Strange since the incident report page says:
----------------
Congestion is being experienced with a major upstream peering, affecting Cape Town subscribers. Work is being done to minimise the impact in the interim. Full resolution is expected before Wednesday.
-----------------
"Still in progress"

Yet my connection seems fine this morning so far.

Don't talk too soon as I've noticed the past 30min or so my browsing speeds are starting to slow down again similar to yesterday.

Hi Mr H - same this side - my connection is also sliding backward - drop of 200 kbps in the past hour...

Also, latency and timeouts are back with a vengeance! I was informed by iBurst that they will again today be making changes, so hopefully it is during the current period only.

Seems weird that at night we have this problem yet during today it was almost as good as normal my side.

At the moment it seems to be a little better than when I made my last post but still not as it should be.

Right now my download speeds are bad at about +_300kbps to 400kbps even though browsing is not as bad as earlier or last night.

Last night download was +_ 950kbps to 1.2mbps but browsing was a lot slower than 33,6 dial up.

yes it comes and goes, it's about time they get this sorted out as we certainly are not getting value for our money at this rate.

I've been out the whole day and just checked now and so far browsing seems reasonable.

EDIT: From +_19:30 browsing has slowed down to almost as bad as it was last night
