Yup, 2.8 gigs
This. Very inconsistent of vodacom to let you off the hook - my dad had to pay R13k in roaming charges for having received mail on his iPad while abroad. Vodacom showed no mercy at all despite our explanations and pleas - we could have cancelled our 5 contracts each worth R500 and they wouldn't have budged. This was before number porting was possible - if it happened now we would have ported to another service provider and shown them the big middle finger that's for sure. Still think Vodacom are the best mobile voice provider in the country, but that doesn't mean they are ethical at all - in fact far from it. If given the choice I'd avoid them like I try to avoid Telkom - purely on principlemust be your connections. normal people would have to pay the 2k. sometimes I wonder about you and the company you keep.

I think roaming charges and what happened to me are very very different.
The data depleted in minutes.
I didn't get a notification.
My history on my account shows this never happened before
Fair enough, but still. My argument is that the ISP's make huge profit on data roaming (it's a big cartel), so it should have been easy for them to write off an unintentional bill. That said, a friend of mine had a similar event happen to him and he wasn't roaming. His phone went on a downloading spree one night, racking a R4k bill, and despite this being local traffic they didn't help him so yeah I guess it's quite hit and miss whether they help you, which is still not right. Lucky you thoughI think roaming charges and what happened to me are very very different.

Call centre.Agreed, roaming charges are probably paid to the other network.
Who did you contact to get this sorted?
Hope you deleted that app!

Are Vodacom unable to see where the data goes?
Call centre.
Have reset phone so hopefully no more issues.
Agreed. I mean 2k is nothing to them. To us it's a fortune. Especially when my bill is only about 1600 each month.
They are reluctant to do this but under heavy investigation they can retrieve a subscriber's data logs in terms of which IP addresses the DATA flowed through and how many megs, what time of the day, etc. As I say this information does not come easy, pretty much need a court order firstAre Vodacom unable to see where the data goes?
