Part of the bigger definition of abuse. Marital abuse is a small part of it. Have you seen the lesbian bullying I'm referring to? Muis in post #466? Or are we now going to cut abuse in this into a gazillion pieces, publish a paper on one small sub-portion of abuse, then expand it again to the general abuse to justify a cause? The research shows the abuse that is the contributing factor are things such as bullying at work, school and college. Discrimination in the workplace and at schools. Being shunned by families, being kicked out of their homes.

It is this widespread abuse to which I am referring as it is a factor. But I believe with better education and understanding much of it can be reduced.

Of course you will get homosexuals or transgender people doing the same, which goes without saying is unacceptable.

I actually agree with you. We do need beter education to teach people it is a mental illness especially for the family members so that they can assist the people in getting help. Bullying someone with a mental disorder should never be acceptable.

People won't make fun of someone with bipolar, or schizophrenia or even shun them. So why shun someone with gender dysphoria. Each time they are confused they should just be reminded that gender isn't a feeling.

So, we should just reduce the experience of being the one or the other gender to what kind of brain you have? The experience (for a woman) of being physically much weaker than at least 50% of the rest of the population, having a womb, experiencing pain, discomfort and a emotional roller-coaster every month of your life from puberty to menopause, pregnancy, child birth. All these experiences have nothing to do with being a woman.

A man having a more feminine brain does not make him a woman, it makes him a man with a more feminine brain, and no amount of drastic cosmetic surgery and abuse of his body is going to allow to experience being a female.

I'm all for a more compassionate society, but playing a great big game of pretend instead of acknowledging that some very few individuals are just malformed is fundamentally wrong.
