Hurricane Matthew is heading towards us and it will be a category 4 hurricane.

We live in Boca Raton and will get the strong winds and rains associated with the storm. The actual hurricane will hit landfall north of us if it inches closer to us. Weather is overcast now and the winds are not strong yet. Loads of buildings have been boarded up and closed. Some petrol stations have closed and the pumps are secured with clingwrap type plastic of all things. People are buying supplies still (we just came from Walmart) and securing windows and bringing outside items indoors. Winds should be 74+ mph from tonight.

Tv stations are breaking news of the hurricane and issuing warnings all the time.

Yesterday we closed at 4pm and had to install storm sheets on the windows. The problem with this was the metal sheets were secured inside a wooden box nailed down. After my manager and assistant manager (both women) got all the nails out, we discovered there were no bolts to secure the sheeting to the window frames. No maintenance workers bothered to come down to assist us from head office as they and head office had gone home. We had to do the job ourselves and found that some of the sheeting were not fitting into the frames. A driver from head office bought a box of wingnuts to us and went home. After attempting to install some of the sheeting and bolting them down, we said $%^& head office and we went home.

Lucky I am off work today and work is closed and we might be open tomorrow but we have to call to see.

thanks guys. we were invited to Tennessee to bunk down in a tornado bunker thingy.

Mandatory evacuations in effect in certain counties over here.

We also have family in the way of the storm, but they have decided to hunker down.
Hoping you all live to tell us hair raising stories!
