The Hurricanes have beaten a vastly-improved Sharks side in their Super Rugby clash in Wellington on Saturday.
The Hurricanes won 32-24 after leading 14-10 at half-time.
The Hurricanes scored four tries through wing Cory Jane, centre Conrad Smith, replacement prop Reggie Goodes and lock Jeremy Thrush. Flyhalf James Marshall landed three conversions as well as two penalties.
The Sharks replied with three tries through hooker Bismarck du Plessis and wings S'bura Sithole and Odwa Ndungane. Centre Frans Steyn added all three conversions and a penalty.
The Hurricanes picked up a full-house of five points for their victory to stretch their lead atop both the New Zealand Conference and Overall log.
The Sharks left the Westpac Stadium empty-handed and stayed fourth in the South African Conference and Overall standings.
In next weekend's Round 14 action the Hurricanes host the Chiefs in Wellington (Saturday, May 16 at 09:35), while the Sharks travel to Sydney to play the Waratahs (Saturday, May 16 at 11:40).
