Yeah, both companies executed the cues very well i must say. But the Mazda's trump card is it's Skyactiv technology its regenerative braking and great handling.

The Merc is well a Merc so there's that.

Think you're gonna lose quite a bit on a new CC. I think a 2nd hand Passat would be optimal. Won't take the initial knock in terms of value and get a lot of bang for your buck.

Nice deals are to be had on demo/low km Passat's and CC's.
No matter which car you are going to choose, you are going to loose a lot to depreciation.
