Even if you do, you've still got to pay a yearly fee for the inspector to come and see if you've indeed stopped getting their signal. Think it's roughly the same as the TV license fee.

It's been pointed out to you before that this is nonsense.

So are taxes.

Yeah, and?

You're not obligated to pay a TV license if your set is no longer capable of receiving a broadcast signal. Why would you pay your R30 pm indefinitely if you didn't have to. :wtf:

Didn't say you had to.

but if every household is SA paid, the SABC would be better than DStv

I cancelled my subscription years ago via what they told me to do. (Send them a e-mail) A week ago I randomly received a sms saying I owe them R901.00. The day after, another message that reads: "A trace locator has been added to your Credit Bureau profile." blah blah "Nudept".

WTF?

No, the R300 inspection fee is once off.

The R300 fee is extortion. As is the license fee. Where in the legislation did it ever extend discounts to people not covered by terrestrial signal?

Now you're just trolling ..or completely delusional :D
Actually makes perfect sense, at least elsewhere. Unfortunately in SA it would lead to more misspent funds.

The R260 per year is not the issue, but rather that it is used to fatten the likes of Hlaudi.

So I would happily pay more to some legit company to not pay a TV license.

The content on SABC has been nothing more than #%{=+{^#* the last 10 years and more. I don't expect it to change any time soon either.

So no thanks

The best way to do this is to just stop paying - and then ignore their demands.

You can't simply remove tuners from modern TV's.

They're all integrated circuits these days, and not old school through-hole technology.

Buy a monitor next time.
