Hi there, my granny needs a good package, so i reccommended iBurst's new i-go, she lives near the south ridge region, and On the iburst coverage its light green.
What speed and latency would she get and is it available?
Can you tell me what it would cost inc the set-ups and all that mumbo jumbo!

it costs 1699 for the modem, 149 for activation and 299 for the monthly fee (gives 500MB and you get cut off after cap)

the maps arent accurate, they werent when they were made and they're way off now, basically no matter where she is it will be between 0 and 1024kbit, go figure

get her to call a reseller like tradepage, they will set it all up for her or allow a test andthey can get her sweet spot (get your mind out the gutter). They also deliver for free.

Just remember that price is for the pcmcia card, not the desktop UTD. The UTD at last check was R2800. (correct me if I am wrong)

Is the utd a mega wirless card?

The UTD is the desktop device. It can be connected by either usb or ethernet, where as the pcmcia card is for laptops only.

No, the pcmcia device looks like a credit card with a arial which is inserted into a socket on the laptop. This can not be used on a normal desktop computer.

I was doing some research for a certain skype conversation, as well as iGo 0.5GB - not far at all…, and I decided to have a look at Ozzie UTC prices - over there it seems the UTC is more expensive than the UTD over there - I presume it has something to do with economies of scale or something...

Ok, you can actually stick a PCMCIA into a desktop PC, if you get a PCMCIA Adapter Card - preferably one that goes into a PCI slot - I bought one of these at Vodaworld for R249: [post=168399]Elan P111 PCMCIA -> PCI adaptor, Vodacom product code: V3GPCADAPT[/post], it isn't just for 3G cards, it is a generic PCMCIA adapter card, so there's no reason why the iBurst UTC would not work in it.

no idea, but my guess would be that they buy the hardware and just stick their own logo on it
