I had flu from Friday (which was a week ago) until Tuesday (4 days later). The flu wasn't too bad, I actually worked the whole weekend while I had flu.

Anyway, I was once told that resting and doing no exercising for a week or two is ideal so your body can recover fully, is this true? I'm into jogging, I sometimes take part in 10km marathon runs every so often. I want to take part in a 10km race this coming Saturday, but not sure if I should in case my body hasn't fully recovered yet. I feel 100% well now, except for mental fatigue caused by too much work.

If you have any sort of chest problem, don't jog until you are better, a throat infection, you can still run. That's what my doctor told me.

No chest problem, I just had a runny nose and a bit of a fever. But as I said before, I feel 100% physically.

I don't wanna pretend like i'm a doctor here and tell you what you should and shouldn't do.. But when you say you had flu, did you perhaps just have a chest infection/bronchitis/sinusitis...?

Flu is a very serious thing to get and it would be very difficult to go to work with it. Flu (influenza) will knock down even the strongest and even kill those with weak immune systems (AIDS sufferers/Elderly).. Sorry, it's just that almost everyone will claim they have "flu" and then take an anti-biotic, which of course, treats a bacterial infection (bronchitis/sinusitis..) and not a virus like flu.

The reason i'm mentioning this is because if you had flu, then no, i dont think you should be running a 10km marathon. If you had bronchitis/sinusitis, and you feel you've recovered, then yes, i don't see why not..

Flu is serious & you MUST rest & make a full recovery. Over the years I have met several guys into sport & fitness who decided they were well enough to undertake fairly strenuous physical activity before making a full recovery. Unfortunately they permanently damaged their hearts in the process which was confirmed by a cardiologist.

Listen to your body. I was sick two weeks ago. Only felt good enough this week. If you still feel a bit under the weather p, don't exercise.
