So I have an idea. Not an average idea, a really good, Vodacom Please Call me kind of idea.

Does anyone know the best way to do this without getting screwed out of any potential future earnings of the idea? The company is very big so the potential of the idea is literally endless.

Appreciate any suggestions.

Ideas are worthless. Have more than an idea, then you can start pitching to investors

If your idea is specific to that company, it is worthless if they don't accept it. They know that, and therefore you'll have to be very careful how you decide to pitch the idea to them.

It will all depend on the business case. Ideas are cheap, implementation is everything. It'd be better if you could bring your idea and some sample implementation to the company, so they know it's not just a fuzzy idea you're expecting them to turn into reality AND then you want to buy it from you before you show them the whole story (which will never work in business).

My suggestion: find somebody reasonably high up in that company and sign an Non Disclosure Agreement with them, keeping the pitch solely as a one-on-one discussion with them to gauge their interest in the general concept and to protect you from them stealing it outright.

In most situations I would agree with you. However, the idea can only work in this companies environment. So I cannot create a product as such in order to patent the idea.

Wait till Friday. Post it here. But not at 16H40. Do it early. Like 07H55. Sit back and profit.

Without telling us your idea, if you can give the general area where your idea is implemented, I may be of assistance, for example, last year a scientist came to us with a remarkable way to filter water out of industries and we got that going.

So PM me if you like, I may assist. Have big corporate and private backers that are eager for good ideas.

If it is telecoms specific, PM me anyway, I may still assist.

Thanks. That's a really good suggestion. NDA's are often very hard to get signed due to the "we already might have the idea" response. But think I will go see a lawyer and do a little bit of leg work before trying to set something up.
