I kissed Xiaomi Goodbye and this is what I got: Samsung Galaxy A25

interesting seeing the A25 in action, I took one out on contract, that I still paying off if it hadn't have been stolen,
used a Note 9 and then got the S21 FE with the cracked screen Im using now,

so far quite impressed with how the A25 looks and works, most of the things I need would have been an awesome phone if it hadnt have been stolen.

lets see what my Ebucks Boost reward will be like, if I can get another or how will it work when I eventually reach the voucher stage, maybe I can buy another to act as a backup phone, although have the Iphone 6s for that.

I've had it on mobile data so far and switched of 5G so it only uses 4G. Seems much better.
5G is a power hog. Also browsers with lots of open tabs. If your screen supports high refresh rates, you can turn that down too - along with the res...

2 Month Update:

So I should probably give an update after switching to this affordable Samsung device.

In general there is a lot that irritates and frustrates me about this phone, and I compare it to my previous Xiaomi which is currently still bootlooping ( eish!).

The Cons:

It is sloooooow.
Opening apps are slow.
Switching between apps are slow.
Opening the Samsung Wallet app to pay ends up with the cashier having to do the ready to tap twice because it timed out waiting for Samsung wallet to finally finish loading.
Playing Minecraft is a major burden for this device, it's slow, it heats up, and sometimes takes ages to load a map.
In general it is slow and laggy. Not impressed. If it's on battery saver it is even worse.
Going back to home screen is slow.
Taking a screenshot is moerslow.
Slower than BenedictAhole on good day.
Taking photos makes the SloMoGuys look fast. The camera app and doing basic photo things is frustrating and slow.

Applications.
Samsung default Contacts and Caller is just frustrating. Going to recent calls I can't copy a number to do a search on it. Only delete. It only gets about 2/10 spam calls.

I installed Google Phone and Contacts again.

Samsung Wallet. This is more spam than anything else. When I got the phone it wants to manage everything. Gets a popup everytime I open it. The other day I wanted to pay and boom, another popup on some sort of new feature it has. 'tsek, I want to pay not read about app features.

Screenshots. As said above. Dit is moeg. It's faster to get refugee status in America than trying to take a screenshot. The phone barely manages to run whatever is used for screenshots.

Gallery. Compared to the Xiaomi Gallery app it is just a pain. It doesn't have a filter which only shows all the GIF's. At least it doesn't have adverts I guess. :p Did I mention it is slow......

Features:
Temporary Mute for X minutes. You can only put a time limit when in silence mode (not vibrate only!) and you have to go into settings something something. On Xiaomi I just pressed down and mute for X time.

Modes and Routines. My hell this is a frustrating experience and often doesn't work properly. My theory is that it doesn't have the resources to manage modes and routines. I have to sometimes manually go and stop a routine and start it again to activate properly.

Accidental button presses and butt dialing. It has a an option to prevent presses when in your pocket etc. It's useless. Need to make sure nothing can be accessed from the lockscreen, including emergency calls. Often feel it vibrating in my pocket to only see I tried to enter a 100 digit pin a couple of times and failed.

There are some other stuff as well but those are the big ones I can currently think of.

Pros:
It doesn't bootloop.
It doesn't show ads.
It has NFC support.
It will make for a nice backup phone once I can get my Xiaomy to be semi reliable again.

I'd hate to be THAT guy, but did you enable developer options and set animations to 0.5x their normal 'speed'? Typically feels snappier opening and moving between apps.

It does not look like local service providers offers new Xiaomi product anymore. That's a shame. i would have liked to see the 15 Ultra or even the 14T Pro locally.

Xiaomi 14T Pro

I'm waiting for the Poco F7 Pro to come back into stock and then I'm getting one. Went out of stock before my eBucks allocation came through for the month. It was a bargain at R13k for a phone that has 12 GB RAM, 512 GB storage and Snapdragon 8gen3...

Will it run Minecraft though?

I've seen them for sale. But not from our service providers.

odd, spec wise it is more capable than either my Xcover5 or the wife's A06 and both of those are perfectly adequate in performance
mind you I've never seen any need to run a game like minecraft on my phone

question: do you ever properly close apps that aren't needed any more to free up memory or do you just leave them all be?
pet peeve of note with the wife, she moans about xyz and when I pop open recently used / running apps on her phone there's a list a mile long ... I'm like wtaf?!? on my phone there's only ever 2 or 3 at most
