Al ready removed.

It made me very puky... drank it for my shoulder. HAd an amazing trip then hung onto the toilet for an hour.

Ugh, that must have been awful.

I think I read somewhere that drug companies have realised what a big influence genetics has on our tolerance for drugs and therefore they're starting to focus drug trials more on that. Even gender can have a significant influence on effectiveness and side-effects, apparently.

The worst side-effects I've experienced was from some unknown drug some nurse injected in my IV (when the tablets they'd been giving me up to that point had been working perfectly well). Felt like insects were crawling on my skin the whole night (and considering all my appendages were bandaged at the time, that was NOT a fun experience).

Those Myprodol generics have codeine in them and they are addictive if you don't follow the directions properly. I seem to remember that they were once prescription only. Can anyone confirm?

Rayzon!!!!!! That is what they were giving me! THank you! Are you a phramacist or doctor or something? You seem very clued up.
yep. i'm a doctor. rayzon is a coxib - parecoxib to be exact, like celebrex and arcoxia. it works quite well - just have to be careful with sulfa allergies and heart/kidney conditions. the problem with pethidine is it makes you feel so nice and you actively crave the stuff.

some info regarding migraines via MSD's maxalt (which also works quite well for migraines): http://www.mymigraine.co.za/secure/GeneralContent/questionnaire/question.asp

Cool....thanks zeridine. I did a quick search and headache aint on the list of possible side effects of Rayzon. I swear though...5 - 10 minutes after the nurse put up the Rayzon drip I would get a splitting headache. Well, at least now I know I dont handle Rayzon well and will definately refuse it should I ever have a operation again :)

How common is prescription medicine addiction amongst doctors themselves?

I know of a case where a doctor tried to prescribe herself Roaccutane but the pharmacist refused to fill the script.

Well, that's a damned weird thing to get addicted to isn't it?

Huh? Roaccutane? Trust me...getting you high is the last thing that Roaccutane will do. If anything, it will dry your eyes to the point it feels like you have sand of the Namib in there. It will dry your skin out to the point where you are flaking all over the place. It will give you back pain to the point that it will feel like you have been 9 months pregnant for over 5 years non stop! It just makes you feel worse than a tried out turd in the sun....but hot damn does it clear up your skin brilliantly!

Perhaps this doc was a masochist and this is what gets her rocks off? lolz

I dont know of any addicted colleagues - not everyone is high/drunk all the time as portrayed on tv shows (totally over the top writing in contrast to our dull boring lives). i dont know if you're implying roaccutane addiction? that has to be a first for roaccutane. and why go to a pharmacy at all when it is cheaper at the supplier without needing a script?
as for the pharmacist not dispensing - there has to be more to the story.

As the story was told to me, a young doctor, still busy with her community service, wrote herself a script for Roaccutane. The pharmacist refused to fill the script.

You need blood tests and I think a dermatologist thing.I was on it.

she wasnt registered to practice privately. she didnt have a practice number. the pharmacist didnt want to take a risk bending the rules.

nope - not a dermatologist thing. but you do need to monitor your full blood count and liver functions.

Zeridine.....is it still required for woman that goes onto Roaccutane to sign a pledge not to get pregnant while on the treatment?

Yep. Unless you want a monster baby. Isotretinion is highly teratogenic.

Tell me about it. I used to put vasaline on my lips and would carry one of those little tubs of E45 cream with me everywhere I went. I swear...I am not exaggerating. The back pain there was not a single thing I could do though.

I know....but do they actually still make the ladies sign a form promising they will take precautions against getting pregnant? I love having a doctor on here! Who knew docs were also broadband/IT/Cellphone nerds! lolz.

They really should have Roaccutane support groups where people that is on it can get together and cry on each other's shoulders! haha.

I am glad I went on it though. As they say...no Roaccutane, no pain, no gain! hehe
