Ha! jamal! Loosen up :D no offence was taken. Did I offend you? Maybe my tone of writing comes off as condescending. It is difficult typing while doing some cardio.

Thank god you are required to use a keyboard on here. We all know your handwriting sucks donkey ballas! :)

hahahah true though I still get but much less.

Me too...although hardly ever on my face. Every now and again I would get a little one on my back or neck....but lately it has flared up on my back big time. I do think it is because I am taking Moducare (was curious to see if it prevents me from getting sick this winter). Have scaled back the dosage to one capsule in the morning now and will see if it settles down again.

I know....but do they actually still make the ladies sign a form promising they will take precautions against getting pregnant? I love having a doctor on here! Who knew docs were also broadband/IT/Cellphone nerds! lolz.

You can have forms signed. Like informed consent. I don't really - though I always tell patients of all the horrible side effects and insist on contraception. I do also give them a starterpack thingy with drug info booklet (that has that form in), contact numbers etc. Every case is different though.

Nah....my face is still clear as a whistle! Just my back that I get them now and again (current flare up excluded). Sometimes I will get on one or two on my chest...but think that is just cause I have a hairy chest and the hair grows in sometimes. I little squeeze and it pops out and heals quick quick.

There's really no point in getting panicked about side effects. Besides you've already admitted to taking a drug with some very nasty potential side effects.

I went to the doctor today because I have a cough.

She gave me a product called Flusin S. It contains 500 mg paracetamol in addition to several other ingredients and I'm supposed to take it every 6 hours.

Now I'm considering also taking acetylcysteine to protect my liver from the paracetamol.

My question is whether the acetylcysteine would counteract the beneficial effects of the paracetamol.

there's a much better reason to take acetylcysteine: flusin has a decongestant pseudoephedrine in it. i think it is 6mg only. should pep you up a bit but can thicken the phlegm a bit, while it lessens secretions. ACC breaks the bonds in the phlegm and makes it less viscous. the chlorpheniramine is an old gen antihistamine that can make you drowsy.

How much damage does paracetamol and drinking actually do to your liver? Doc :D

vague answer: depends on how much you take. 4g paracetamol (8 panados) in 24h is the upper limit of safe for healthy adults without any contra indications.

Ummm a personal thing but I rate my liver has been taking a lot,my head feels fuzzy and I have the shakes...will this go away if I stop drinking and I mean heavy every day?

About 8 Pannados at once is the lethal dose for paracetmol. It's heavy on the liver so avoid the GrandPa's for Hangover. They work because it's got about 2 espressos worth of Caffeine in them but the paracetamol is bad news.

Question for Zeri.

What is worse for the liver? Codeine or Paracetemol?

Question for Zeri.

What is worse for the liver? Codeine or Paracetemol?

again it depends on the amount of excess taken. as stated before paracetamol would give you centrilobular livernecrosis after a few days only. codeine is a weak opioid where an oral dose of 200mg would give you roughly the same effect as a 10mg parenteral shot of morphine, or if you want to compare apples to apples it gets converted in the liver to morphine roughly 10:1mg ratio via same route of admin - which kinda means the amount of codeine in combination tablets (usually 10mg) dont do much for pain. codeine is also heavily reliant on individual gene expression of cytochrome P450 enzyme CYP2D6, which means metabolism varies from person to person.

EDIT: what's worse in general? i'd say an opioid over paracetamol, mainly due to it's narcotic effect.

When I get a migraine some simple paracetamol is too ... meh. I still have the killing pain etc etc
To kill a proper migraine I need just the right combo of ibuprofen and paracetamol.
