I need a good defragment program for win 98

Before you guys start zapping me about upgrading my system, I like windows 98 because it is the highest operating system that can run dos games. but anyways I need a suggestion which defragment program I can use for win 98

There's quite a few good DOS emulators around you know :) and also dualbooting...vmware....etc...

yea come on get out of the dark ages

there is no good one for 98 a reload usually sorts out defragging quit nicely

Diskeeper is the one i use its pretty good i think ver 8 works on 98 not sure its has a nice scheduling interface so my disk is always kept in tip top condition.

Win98 defrag is very slow. By the time MS released Win ME, they had improved defrag.exe tremendously.

Thus, the "guru" fix is to simply replace the Win98 defrag.exe with the defrag.exe from Win ME. The article below explains how to do it...(really easy, although he is VERY long-winded about it).

IIRC, it more than doubles the speed of a Win98 defrag. YMMV.

Simple and effective.

If you like DOS games, get yourself some lessons in booting into DOS where you can play those games in a native environment, and then have XP for everything else.

Seriously, if your still using win98, hey, you can get help - there's care groups out there for you ... ;)

Nothing wrong with XP Home, only idiots think Pro makes a huge difference.
