I need a Point & click camera for the rentals +/- R1k

Hi friends,

So the rentals are going on a cruise on Thursday and for Xmas my bro and I decided to buy them a normal Point & Click camera. However, we're still looking around.

They've never had a camera (been using my ooooold 3mp camera from way back when on the odd occasion) so I'm not looking for anything fancy like an SLR / 30D / whatnot. Just a simple one will be fine.

IC has a fuji camera (meh) 12MP + 3x optical zoom for R600. My budget would be around the R1k mark, so I'm trying to see if there's anything else.

I've tried to see if I can find Olympus cameras with 10ft water resistance or some such, but it's not crucial. Basically all I'm looking for is the best bang-for-buck in that price range. Any help will be appreciated.

My bro ended up getting a fuji one for my parents. 12MP, 3x optical zoom, 8gb SD card + carry bag for R850. Parents are stoked.

But yeah, I'd also prefer nikon over fuji tbh.

Bought them for my daughters for the birthday , great little cameras. A month ago they where R1400.00
